Wine Blog Review of Dallas Wine Chick
The first aspect of a blog that catches my eye when I decide to write a review is the aesthetic value; Dallaswinechick.com offers plenty. I like the contemporary feel of the blog. The graphics, both text and picture, are sophisticated yet possess subtle impact. The flowing linear text gives the blog a dynamic feel and by just scanning the page, it’s apparent this blogger experiences wine. Another positive trait I found was the numerous photos which add credibility to the writing and allow the reader’s eye a momentary pleasing vacation from the written content. The colors of the background are not stark or offensive but create a fine scenic backdrop to the articulated wine-related stories.
Moreover, I really appreciate the wine varietal list along the left hand side of the page; each varietal links to past related blogs. This makes the searching process much easier if someone were interested in a particular wine. Additionally, the search box at the top right of the page also allows searching of key words. I typed in the query “wine cooler” to see what would result and there were no articles relating to that phrase. While “wine refrigerator” came up fruitless, “ wine storage” pulled up an article about Marilyn Merlot wines that ended up being very interesting. Perhaps an article about wine coolers or proper wine storage is overdue, but wine accessories don't seem to be a major area of interest for her, and that's fine.
Another very useful feature of Dallaswinechick.com is the list of links descending on the right side of the page. It is always great to see how involved a blogger is in the global wine community and this blogger seems well-read. Of course, the big names appear, such as Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator, but also there exists a list of other terrific and informative blog sites. Sharing information is a highly effective way to learn and it is apparent through the noted Twitter updates and social networking icons that information from this blog spreads like wildfire.
After I finished checking out the visual appeal of Dallaswinechick.com, I actually began reading the content to see if my positive opinion could be swayed. My opinion remained unwavering; not only is the design of the site pleasant and agreeable, but the writing is infused with passion. I can’t stand reading text that was clearly written to fill a quota or by an author who is completely ambivalent toward the topic. The latter is obviously not the case with this blogger. The blog reflects personal preference and opinions of wine, while feeding the reader tasty wine facts. Also, through my perusing of past blogs, there seemed to be no wine-serving event or establishment in the state of Texas that this blogger has not visited.
If you, like this blogger, are a fellow grape lover or wine connoisseur, check out Dallaswinechick.com for a multitude of helpful blogs on all your favorite varietals. Many of these articles include tasting notes and food pairing recommendations. The site impression is also improved after reading the personal note and history of the blogger herself. She includes methods of contact in case you want to ask a question or provide a general comment. And lastly, before you visit the Dallas area, be sure to pull a delightful wine reference from this refreshing site.
